Gymstory starts 2022 with thrilling investment news

With Gymstory, we are happy to share that we raised our second round of funding. On board we have one new partner and with our other partner we've extended and expanded the cooperation after a great first year.

Recently Jordy Kool expanded his role within Gymstory from advisor to advisor investor through his investment firm Iron Asset Management. Kool: “Last year I worked successfully with the enthusiastic Gymstory team and experienced how they have made important steps. The platform functions well and looks nice. I have become convinced that they can take this company to a higher level in a skilled and structured way. While I normally only commit to fast-scaling medium-sized companies with significant EBITDA and experienced management teams, I'm happy to make the exception for Gymstory.”

Until 2018, Kool worked as CEO at Infotheek Group (Infotheek, Centralpoint, Flex it). Under his leadership, this IT company grew from 55 million to 750 million euros and to 25 countries. Kool is currently active as an advisor to executive boards of international companies, commissioner, and investor through his own family office.

Graduate Entrepreneur, a Delft-Rotterdam university alumni fund, has also invested in Gymstory. They also have a strong belief in our team members and they like the fact that the Gymstory team experienced the problems they now try to solve. To further stimulate the startup ecosystem, a group of the Delft University of Technology, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Erasmus MC alumni recognizing the potential of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst students initiated the development of Graduate Entrepreneur. Gymstory’s CTO Mathieu is a Delft alumnus, that is how Gymstory was eligible for an investment from Graduate.

In 2020 Gymstory raised a little over 200.000 euros which allowed the startup to create the foundation of its scalable connected fitness platform. Now one year later, the team raised an amount close to 150.000 euros from Graduate and Iron Asset Management. Gymstory will use this capital to launch the platform in the first 10 gyms, track gym members workouts effortlessly, and increase gym revenues.
